Jill Freeman is a native Angeleno. She began her professional career in music over 20 years ago. Her trio The Life Is Grand Band became stalwarts of the L.A. music scene, gaining an avid following for their tight vocals and original songwriting. Their song “Feel Like Makin’ Art” was included on the Fast Folk series which is now part of the Folkways Smithsonian collection. Jill will be accompanied by her husband and producer Joel Wachbrit along with Steve Nelson on bass and Debra Dobkin on percussion. Ali McGuirk has made a career of captivating audiences with her unique blend of folk lyricism combined with touches of blues, soul, and R&B. She released her first full-length album, “Slow Burn,” last November. Working with an eclectic mix of artists, including Boston guitar legend Jeffrey Lockhart, it was named as one of the Top Ten Albums of 2017 by influential Boston rock critic Steve Morse, and contributed to her Boston Music Award Nomination for 2017’s Best New Artist. We’ll also hear from special guest Kimon Kirk.
